Welcome to the first week of Vacation Bible School! Our theme for this year is a "Summer of Saints". This week's Saint is Saint Anthony of Padua.

Saint Anthony was born in 1195 at Lisbon, Portugal. He came from a wealthy family, but became a Franciscan Priest. Shipwrecked at Sicily, Italy, he decided to spread the good news throughout Italy as well as France. He was known as a miracle worker. Anthony's feast day is June 13th. He is the Patron Saint of Lost Objects.

If you lose something, St. Anthony is happy to help you find it. Say these words aloud, and memorize them for future use:

Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony
Please come around
Something is lost
And can't be found.

Scan and email this picture to me, Miss Nancy, at familybiblefun@comcast.net and I'll add it to our web site for all to see. You also may create and email me your own drawing of St. Anthony if you prefer. I can also give you my mailing address if you do not have a scanner and just want to mail it in to be placed on the site.

There is one last step for this week's lesson. Ask your parent or guardian if you can look in the pantry to donate a non-perishable food item to St. Vincent De Paul. If they say yes, put it aside and bring it to church with you on Sunday. There is usually buckets in the back of church for people to put food items in for St. Vincent de Paul.

Sign the guestbook at the end of this page to let us know you completed this week's lesson!

I hope you enjoyed learning about St. Anthony! Remember to memorize his poem and ask him for help in times of need.
